Whilst some areas of the High Country have been affected by recent fires, the historic town of Beechworth and its surrounding areas have escaped undamaged. That’s great news all round, but even more so for those of us with a love for gravel grinding…or those of you who are just looking to give it a go.
As the team from Bike Exchange discovered on their recent trip to Beechworth, Stanley, Mt Pilot and El Dorado, this area of Victoria’s High Country is indeed gravel riding Nirvana. ‘Beechworth is home to some of the High Country’s most beautiful gravel routes and roads. With a wide variety of gravel surfaces ranging from hard-packed sandy gravel to chunky logging roads and flowing single track, there’s sure to be a route to suit every preference, ride style and ability level.’ We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
Check out this article and use it as a source of inspiration for your next gravel riding holiday and as a cyclists guide to the Beechworth area. It is packed full of locals tips from The Gravel Mob, insights from High Country fans @ekfer and @kt.inwonderland, route maps, inspirational photos and videos.
