The 2023 Alpine Classic isn’t just another summer cycling event in Victoria’s majestic high country, it’s an experience that will stay with you forever. Set on the Saturday of the Australia Day Long Weekend in January so you don’t have to rush home after your ride, it will challenge and reward you regardless of which course you choose … and there are 9 (yes 9!) ride lengths to choose from, from 60km to 320km.
- 60km Mount Beauty
- 70km Mt Buffalo
- 130km Falls Creek
- 135km Mt Hotham and Dinner Plain (new this year)
- 140km Mt Buffalo and Mount Beauty
- 200km Alpine Classic (the original ride – Mt Buffalo and Falls Creek)
- 250km Alpine Raid and 250km ACE (Mt Hotham and Back of Falls)
- 320km Ultimate (Mt Buffalo, Mt Hotham, Back of Falls)
Whichever course you choose the 2023 event is set to be another classic day out on the bike, and now is the time to lock in your ride entry accommodation options before prices rise and the accommodation sells out.
Why so early? Because Super Early Bird tickets are on sale now until the end of June and that means you’ll save money, which you can spend on bike gear or clothing instead! Head to the Alpine Classic website before June 30 to take advantage of the super early bird pricing.
But you shouldn’t wait until January to hit the High Country’s 7 Peaks climbs and empty country roads … to get the most out of yourself at the Alpine Classic you need a training camp or two. 7 Peaks season starts in October once the winter snow has melted, so get your crew together, find some accommodation in one of the valley towns and book in some long weekends to train on the climbs. There’s nothing quite like being here and familiarising yourself with just how epic the High Country roads and climbs really are. We’ll see you soon.
