The town of Glenrowan is the place of the last siege of the Kelly Gang and the deaths of three of its members.
The Big Ned Kelly Statue stands guard over the historic township of Glenrowan and is situated on the corner of Gladstone and Kate Streets right in front of the Glenrowan Post Office Newsagency.
The text on the plaque at the bottom of the Big Ned:
Ned Kelly - Hanged a murderer in Melbourne, November 11, 1880 - not 26 years old - described as a rebel, bushranger by necessity, a bush battler, underdog, sometimes gentleman, sometimes larrikin and a man with a strong sense of family.
