The Australian Mountain Bike Photography Awards bring together the best photography and riding talent from around the world in a who’s who of mountain biking. These prestigious awards, held annually, rely on the public’s vote to determine the best in each class…and we need your help!
One of Ride High Country’s resident photographers, the highly respected Matt Rousu from Mount Beauty, has made the shortlist (of 12) in two different categories…and with your help, we can propel Matt and the High Country into the pages of Australian Mountain Bike Magazine.
Matt’s two photos up for awards this year are in the Panshot category, shot in his hometown of Mount Beauty and featuring his fiance Leighann (image 1 below), and Detail which was taken in Falls Creek and features another local icon in Dean Lucas (image 2).
Matt tells us ‘I really wanted to try something different this year so I put together a series that would be linked together. I chose to represent the 4 elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water but also to adhere the category requirements of Hero, Wide, Detail and Pan.
I had a clear idea for the Fire panshot and tried to work from there. Ultimately I wanted to try and capture some more images but it was difficult to achieve because of the current lockdown situation.
I’m really happy to be chosen again this year, I feel like I’m getting a lot more creative and hopefully the public can help me achieve a top spot.’
If you like Matt’s work, be sure to head to AMB’s voting page and help remind the rest of the country why Victoria’s High Country is Australia’s premier mountain biking destination.
