All of us here at Ride High Country Central have been working hard to ensure that the Jayco Herald Sun Tour can make its return to the Region next week. It’s exciting for us all to have Australia’s oldest stage race back in Australia’s premier cycling destination at a time that will provide great exposure and an economic boost following the devastation of the recent bushfires.
Nearly 70 years strong, the Jayco Herald Sun Tour is one of Australia’s heritage sporting events, supported and revered by generations of Victorians. Riders from around the world compete in the Tour, with an honour role that includes Tour de France Champions Chris Froome and Sir Bradley Wiggins.
In exciting news for the event and the Region, two more World Tour teams have just been announced to take to the starting line! US based outfit EF Education First have again committed to ride the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, looking to take top step on the podium, bringing a powerful line up to the event including Victorian Mitch Docker, now in his second year with the team.
Israel Start Up Nation have also confirmed their attendance at the event. These teams will match it with other World Tour lineups including Australia’s Mitchelton-SCOTT and German based Sunweb, along with a host of national and international squads making up the 14 team men’s mix. And in the Lexus of Blackburn Women’s Herald Sun Tour a similar combination of 15 teams will see some of the worlds best female riders battle out the two stage event.
#RollOnBack to the High Country next week, between the 6th and 8th of February, to see the world’s best cyclists conquer your favourite roads. We look forward to welcoming you.
