“Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike” – John F Kennedy.
For many of us in the High Country, riding a bike is a way of life. Professionals, bunch riders, social riders, U3A rail trailers, commuters and school kids can be seen zig zagging their way across the tracks, roads and trails of our villages and towns every single day. It’s part of what makes the High Country a special place…and we suspect part of the reason why you like visiting us so much.
But next Wednesday 3 June, we’ll all be making an extra effort to get out for a ride and you might see some more cyclists around your area too. It’s World Bicycle Day!
Created by the United Nations in 2018, World Bicycle Day is a chance for people around the globe to pay tribute to the bicycle and the many benefits it brings to society. It’s been a tough year for us all, but no doubt you’ve found some solace from riding you bike.
So be sure to show your support for the humble bicycle next Wednesday and get out for a ride. No mater whether you are here in the High Country, or just dreaming of being here, it’s time to celebrate.
