Ride Beechworth

RAIL TRAILS AND ROLLED GOLD

Historic Beechworth punches well above its weight in the food and drink scene, and even more so in cycling.

Perched atop a granite plateau surrounded by forests, vineyards and rolling farmland lies picturesque Beechworth. Whether you cruise the rail trail, send it on the Indigo Epic, head to the hills to explore an impressive gravel network or put rubber to the road, Beechworth's got the whole crew covered.

The Indigo Epic

The Indigo Epic Trail is a 56km All Mountain singletrack mountain biking trail connecting the historic towns of Beechworth and Yackandandah via serene busland.

This must-ride blue MTB trail throws up fun for newer intermediate to advanced cyclists alike, with flowing descents, undulating climbs and jump features. The helix loop design invites you to choose your own adventure on the full length, shorter loops or point-to-point options.

Hire a bike from The Bike Hire Company or Old Beechworth Gaol , and organise a shuttle back up the hill with The Bike Hire Company.

Murray to Mountains Rail Trail

The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail offers spectacular and easy to ride sections of sealed, off-road riding past beautiful scenery, historic sites, wineries and more.

Feel the wind in your hair on the 15km descent from Beechworth to Everton Station – just remember what goes down must come up. Keep pedalling to Myrtleford or Bright for a multi-day adventure, or ride the new Beechworth to Yackandandah trail for a cruisey 26km downhill roll and book a return shuttle with The Bike Hire Company .

Champagne Gravel

Smooth gravel roads, undulating countryside and climbs to challenge every level of rider ... Beechworth and the surrounding villages offer some of the High Country's most rewarding rolled gold roads and loops.

Pack snacks and head out for an all-day adventure, wind your way through the Chiltern-Mount Pilot National Park , enjoy the freedom of gravel backroads or celebrate all things gravel at the annual Beechworth Granite Classic  Gran Fondo event.

Beechworth MTB Park

The Beechworth MTB Park has cemented its position as one of the High Country's favourite mountain biking destinations.

Escape to a techy singletrack paradise in a natural bushland setting that offers granite features galore, hand-shaped gaps and tabletops, plenty of climbing and some great descents... plus a trail surface that, impossibly, gets almost better with rain.

BIKE FRIENDLY STAYS

Whether you're travelling solo, with the family, or in a group of friends, Beechworth has a range of accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets.

Pitch a tent at Lake Sambell Caravan Park , go bush at rustic timber The Woolshed Cabins or push the boat out with some five star luxury at The Beechworth Foundry . No matter which way you choose, the Beechy locals will make you feel right at home.

TAKE A LOOK AROUND BEECHWORTH

Beechworth and bikes go hand in hand, and no-one gets amongst it more than the locals.

For your morning coffee hit, roll up to Little NEV – a converted horse float parked at the old RACV garage. Family-run, biodynamic Pennyweight Winery is a short cruise from town along the rail trail. Sip wines and get a case delivered to your accom.

Bridge Road Brewers is the perfect post-ride hang out, dishing up piping hot pizzas and cold craft brews. Or head up the hill to the Stanley Pub and their leafy beer garden.
