Spanning 134km from Tallarook to Mansfield with a branch line to Alexandra, the iconic multi-use rail trail serves up short, medium and long rides packed with fun. Roll past outdoor art, rivers, valleys, lakes, mountains, unique towns and local produce for all tastes and riders.

ART on the Great Victorian Rail Trail 

Cycling, rolling green hills, local produce and outdoor art? Yes please. Rediscover the Great Victorian Rail Trail on two wheels for a truly unique active art experience.

From Tallarook to Mansfield roll past, climb in and learn about the seven new major artworks and 20 scar trees created by eight artists. Each artwork draws on the theme of connections and explores such things as connection to country, the local environment, and the history of the trail.

Cheviot Tunnel 

Ride through Victoria’s longest rail trail tunnel for echo testing fun.

The 201m Cheviot Tunnel is relaxed 9km ride from Yea and is a great ride for beginners and families. Take a ride break and marvel at this key feature of the original Tallarook to Mansfield Railway Line before pedalling through the inky dark to the other side.

On the way back make sure you check-out the 1889 Gothic-styled Yea Railway Station.

Trawool Valley 

Soak in the stunning scenery of the Trawool Valley. Awarded a Scenic Classification by the National Trust, this special part of the rail trail features rolling hills, green fields, diverse flora and the Goulburn River flowing along the valley floor.

Ride 11km from Tallarook to Trawool and stop at Trawool Estate for a refreshing drink and tasty pizza in the pretty outdoor Herb Garden.

Towns and villages of the trail 

Explore 12 picturesque towns and more local produce than you can shake a spoke at.

Each town has its own personality with accommodation for all styles, boutique shopping, delicious local produce and stacks of off-bike activities.

From wine tasting at Delatite Winery in Mansfield, cakes at Marmalades in Yea, soaring Bonnie Doon Lake Eildon bridge crossings and immersing yourself in the scents of Dindi Naturals in Yarck, there's something for riders of all ages.

Ride the Great Victorian Rail Trail at your own pace over a day, a weekend, or an entire week.
