Ride Yackandandah

The locals call it Yack

Historic Yackandandah is home to talented artisans, makers, bakers, and every kind of cycling there is.

With two distilleries, cute cafés, a flourishing creative community and a beautifully preserved gold rush streetscape, Yackandandah has something for everyone. And when it comes to riding, it's just as diverse, with everything from singletrack to rail trail rolls.

Beechworth to Yackandandah Rail Trail

Explore two historic gold rush towns on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail Beechworth to Yackandandah extension. Roll 26km of mixed-surface trail year-round (don't miss the autumn leaves), and treat yourself at either end with dining, shops and drinks.

This is a great half or full day adventure for riders of all ages. Relax with a pre-organised bike shuttle to Beechworth from the Bike Hire Company and roll back to Yack. After a smaller ride? Take a gentle roll alongside Yackandandah Creek on the 10km out-and-back trail to Osbornes Flat.

Yackandandah MTB Park

Yack Tracks offers up an old-school cross-country MTB experience in beautiful native forest only a few kms pedal from the cafes and pubs of the town centre.

Five hand-cut loops of varying lengths send you out into the gumtrees to swoop up and down gullies and along old water races, remnants of the gold rush days.

Don't miss the techy Carcass Canyon ride for a thrilling rush as you drive into a deep water race. The green loop is perfect for a warm up or a family ride.

The Indigo Epic

The Indigo Epic Trail is a 56km All Mountain singletrack mountain biking trail connecting the historic towns of Yackandandah and Beechworth.

Built to a blue rating, this destination MTB trail offers something for everyone with flowing descents, climbs and plenty of fun side hits. The trail's helix loop design means you can tackle its full length, just the Yackandandah loop or ride town to town.

RUBBER TO THE ROAD

Spin along quiet country tarmac on long routes weaving through some of the area's top holiday towns.

Start the 78km Beechworth to Yackandandah Loop from Yack for a full day road adventure through Beechworth's great dining, Stanley's farm gates and back to base for a well earned craft brew from the Star Hotel. After a big challenge? Take on the tough Yackandandah to Myrtleford ride.

BIKE FRIENDLY STAYS

Whether you're travelling solo, with the family, or a group, Yackandandah has a range of bike-friendly accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets.

Miette Boutique Accommodation in the middle of town comes with a secure bike store and repair station, as well as an outdoor tub to soak those post-ride bones. Groups looking for space and seclusion will enjoy the contemporary and stylish Red Box Retreat , just outside of town.

TAKE A LOOK AROUND YACKANDANDAH

This tiny town packs a punch. Visit Backwoods Distilling Co. to try their award-winning whiskies next to towering copper stills, or tootle down to Yack Creek Distillery for a tipple in the creek-side gardens. Wine lovers can book a tasting at Valente Wines, a unique little organic vineyard producing Riesling and Syrah.

Craving coffee? Get an exceptional brew from a 100 year old train carriage at The Guard. Sweet tooth? Two Sisters on High serve up an impressive selection of home-made goodies (try the scones).
